Audra Ann McDonald is a Tony Award-winning American actress and singer, born in Berlin, Germany and raised in Fresno, California. She studied classical voice as an undergraduate at the Juilliard School of Music, graduating in 1993. She also starred in the ABC television drama Private Practice as Dr. Naomi Bennett before resigning from the show in 2011.
McDonald became a three-time Tony Award winner by the age of 28 — for her performances in Carousel, Master Class, and Ragtime.

O Magnum Mysterium
This is one of my most recent works, and surely one of my best. This piece went from being a small project to pass the time, to a virtual choir experience, to having a world premiere in May 2021, conducted by Dr. Gerrit Scheepers and performed by the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Chorale. This piece endured a wild ride, but came out better than I could have imagined.more

Explorations of a New World
This was one of my compositions from about a year ago, which I wrote for my music theory class. When composing this piece, I had images of young people exploring rural Europe at twilight, so hopefully that imagery comes across in the music. It is written in G Dorian for solo piano.more
